About Cinderford’s Multi-use Games Area

The parish council runs the Multi Use Games Area called Double View Playing Field. We are incredibly lucky to have this facility in Cinderford, and want everyone, of all ages, to enjoy using it. The facilities are a mixed-use games area (MUGA) with goal posts for 5-a-side football and basketball.

The Double View Playing Field MUGA can be accessed via the gates off Mount Pleasant Road, Cinderford (What3Words ///hamster.cropping.salt)

Cinderford Town Council are aware that the popular and well used synthetic sports surfaces operated by SGS Forest High School is no longer currently safe for any use.   In response to requests from the community we have introduced a booking system for our MUGA to ensure game time can be played.   This booking system will operate as a trial for four weeks.

MUGA FREE
Bookings Single Use
MUGA £10 per hour

Free access for casual use

The MUGA is free to all casual users. There is no need to book.

All users must bring and use their own sports equipment, e.g. footballs.   There are no changing room, designated car parking or toilet facilities available at the site.  Please ensure you park sensibly and not inconvenience local residents.

Note
The MUGA and the entire facility can be booked in advance, e.g. for 5-a-side football, a game with friends or a business, birthday party or sports event. Where there is a booking in advance, this takes priority over casual users – anyone who is on the court/area will be asked to leave by the booker when an advance-booking party arrives.

Book in advance

Any organised teams or groups or parties who also wish to use the MUGA must also book in advance and pay a nominal fee towards ongoing maintenance.

Before participating in any sporting activity, check whether your sport is safe to play. Every sport’s national governing body should have published guidance on how to participate safely.

Follow the guidance even where this means modifications to the game.

Organised outdoor sport for adults and children is permitted with any number of participants, where it is formally organised.

Any groups involved in organised sports will be asked to provide the relevant documentation to the clerk to demonstrate the following: public liability insurance, DBS checks (where relevant), risk assessments etc.  Organised sports groups will also need to provide their own First Aid kit.  All users should also bring a refillable water bottle to reduce plastic waste in the area.

How to book

To book the MUGA for organised group/team sessions, please contact the office on 01594 822599.  You will be able to guarantee game time and pay for the session in advance.  Regular bookings for sports teams can be invoiced.

You must be 18+ to make a booking and must agree to our terms and conditions of use (see below).

Organised sports groups and teams are able to book the MUGA pitch, as long as they can provide:

  • An up-to-date copy of their public liability insurance cover
  • Confirmation that group leaders, if working with children or vulnerable adults, have up to date DBS checks in place
  • A risk assessment

During the booking process you will be asked to select the date(s) and time(s) you want to reserve and will then be asked to register, including providing a contact phone number and email address.

Bookings must be made at least 24 hours before on the day of play.
