Plant Displays

Staff and Councillors from Cinderford Town Council wish to thank the Forest North Neighbourhood Policing Team who investigated reports of criminal damage caused to plant displays throughout Cinderford High Street and the surrounding town area during the early hours of Thursday 27 August 2026.
Officers carried out enquiries, obtaining CCTV evidence and witness statements.
As a result of those enquiries, a 47-year-old woman from Coleford was arrested by neighbourhood officers, interviewed and subsequently charged with criminal damage.
She is due to appear before Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court in October 2026.
PC Bishop said: “We hope this positive action reassures the community of Cinderford that we take reports of antisocial behaviour and criminal damage seriously. We will investigate reports and work to bring offenders of this kind of behaviour to justice.”
This post is to encourage residents and local businesses to report incidents of antisocial behaviour and criminal damage to police. Your reports help us build a picture of what is happening in our communities, target our patrols and take positive action where appropriate.

Cindyfest 30.08.2026

At Cindyfest on Sunday, 30 August 2026, Jer Holland, Town Crier, will lead a special moment of applause in memory of Derran “Derry” Brownson of EMF at approximately 9:00pm.
Derry was a much-loved member of both the music community and the wider Cinderford community. We hope to come together to celebrate his life, his music, and the many memories he helped create.
Everyone attending Cindyfest is warmly invited to join us in giving Derry a one-minute round of applause.
As a further celebration of the music that Derry and EMF brought to so many people, music from EMF will be played between performances by local acts throughout the day, alongside music from Dolly Parton.
We hope you will join us in remembering and celebrating Derry’s life and the legacy he has left us all.

We are delighted to share that the installation of new secondary glazing in The Main Hall of The Wesley – Forest of Dean Community and Arts Centre is now underway.
This important improvement will help make the building more energy efficient by reducing heat loss, lowering energy consumption, and improving comfort for everyone who uses the facility throughout the year.
A huge thank you to Arts Council England for providing the funding to make this project possible. Their support is helping us invest in our community building, reduce our environmental impact, and create more sustainable spaces for the future.
We would also like to thank the FODDC Senior Conservation Officer and Climate Team Leader for their advice and guidance on the project.

A New Footbridge for Newtown, Cinderford

At the bottom of Newtown, there is a small footbridge crossing the overflow from the brook, but a little further around to the right is another footbridge which crosses the main brook, eventually making its way towards the Steam Mills lakes.
Unfortunately, the old bridge had become rotten and unsafe, with several boards missing and the structure showing significant signs of deterioration.
We’re therefore delighted to see the new footbridge now installed, providing a much safer and more accessible crossing for residents and visitors using this route.
A big thank you to Forest of Dean District Council for installing the replacement bridge and helping to maintain our local walking routes.
It’s fantastic to see this improvement making a real difference to the community

Miners Welfare Playing Field – Swing Update

The swings at Miners Welfare Playing Field have been removed due to health and safety concerns.
We appreciate that the swings are well used, especially during the school holidays, and understand that their removal will be disappointing, but the decision was made to ensure everyone’s safety.
New swings have already been ordered and will be fitted as soon as they are delivered.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we await delivery.

Councillor Vacancy – Cinderford West Ward (co-option)

A vacancy has arisen for a Town Councillor representing Cinderford West Ward following the resignation of Cllr Lynn Sterry.

If you’re passionate about Cinderford and would like to help shape the future of your town, we’d love to hear from you.

No previous experience is required. The successful applicant will receive training and support needed to carry out the role.

As a councillor, you’ll be expected to attend monthly meetings (usually held on the second Tuesday of each month) at 6pm at the Town Council offices.

To apply, simply complete the application form and eligibility form (attached below) and return it by email, post, or by dropping it into the Town Council office.

Applications Close: 4th September 2026 at 5pm.

Applications will be considered by the Council at its meeting on 8th September 2026.

Cinderford outdoor gym
