Today at 9am a flag raising ceremony and reflection on the sacrifices made took place with a special VJ Day 80th Anniversary Flag flying proudly at the Town Council offices to commemorate the end of the Second World War and paying tribute to those who served.
Later at midday please join a special service at the War Memorial in Market Street to include laying of wreaths in remembrance. A national two minute silence will also take place.

Miners welfare skate park – Criminal damage

Public Notice: Criminal Damage and Theft at Miners Welfare Skate Park

The North Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has received an increase in reports from Cinderford Town Council regarding incidents of criminal damage at Miners Welfare Skate Park.

We remind all users that these facilities are provided for public enjoyment, with the expectation that they are treated with care and respect. The police are working closely with the council to investigate these matters, including a recent and concerning report of a stolen safety chain from the swing. This is the second such theft in recent weeks.

The absence of this safety chain poses a serious risk to users if left unnoticed. Continued incidents of this nature may result in certain equipment being cordoned off and made unavailable to the public in the interest of safety.

Your cooperation in protecting and preserving this community facility is greatly appreciated.

Please note, we’re unable to accept reports of crime through Your Neighbourhood Alerts. You can report non-emergency crime online here. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Oyez Oyez Oh yeah!

Jer Holland our Cinderford Town Crier has been crowned the UK’s number 1 Town Crier.
Jer who had previously entered only three crier competitions  – Yeovil in 2024 – (First), Bromyard 2024 – (Second) and again in Yeovil earlier this year (second), fought off tough competition from 24 of the UK’s top town criers to be crowned The Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers National Champion 2025 at Bromsgrove on June 14th.
Jer was appointed Town Crier for Cinderford in 2022 for the Queens Platinum Jubilee and since then has supported the Town with a number of events for local charities and not for profit organisations (and also led the campaign to award EMF their plaque and their return to the Town for Cindyfest 2025 on Saturday 12th July).
On behalf of the Town of Cinderford we send massive congratulations on this incredible achievement.
